Press Release – October 21, 2014 Colorado Springs, CO
In recognition of a proclamation by Governor Hickenlooper declaring October 30th Weatherization Day and also since October is National Energy Action Month, Energy Resource Center will be doing an open house (November 12, 2014 5-7 pm) to demonstrate this work. Energy Resource Center, a Colorado nonprofit that provides energy efficiency services to make families warm and safe, provides low to moderate income households in El Paso, Fremont, Teller, Elbert, and Douglas counties with free services, if income-qualified.
There are 68,000 homes in El Paso County alone that are eligible to apply for the program. Families automatically qualify for services if they are receiving assistance from (LEAP) Low-income Energy Assistance Program, (TANF) Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, (AND) Aid to Needy & Disabled, (OAP) Old Age Pension, and (SSI) Supplemental Security Income. For example, a family of four earning up to $47,000 annually can qualify.
Applications and eligibility are available at www.erc-co.org or call #719-591-0772. For households that do not qualify for free services, ERC offers improvements on a fee basis.
For more information, please contact Mr. Howard Brooks, Executive Director or Susan Parker, Community Relations Manager.
