How to get Free Energy efficiency benefits

Energy Assesment

We will contact you to schedule an appointment. Once your application is approved you will be put on a waitlist, which varies for each region. ERC will contact you when your name is reached on the waitlist to schedule an appointment for the on-site energy assessment at your home.

ERC auditors take the data collected at your home and calculate costs versus benefits and implement the highest-impact measures.

Findings from Energy Assessment

After the energy assessment, the ERC auditor discusses the scope of work to be completed based on the energy assessment results.

Completion of Work

Our ERC field technicians complete the work in your home based on the findings from the energy assessment.

Final Inspection

The final project inspection is completed by an ERC Quality Control Inspector, where final education and client sign-off take place.

The Energy Resource Center works with Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) to help income-qualified families make their homes warmer and more energy efficient through the Home Efficiency Assistance Program (HEAP). The program provides energy and water efficiency improvements and cost savings on utility bills.

Qualifying for Program Assistance

To qualify for a free energy efficiency audit, weatherization, conservation help, or reduced-price furnace services through this program, you must:

  • Own your home
  • Reside in a single-family home, townhouse, condo, or mobile/manufactured home
  • Be a Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) customer
  • Have a gross income less than 60% of state median income guidelines.
